Good Work

Captain Spicer [X550/2/82]

Friday 4th January 1918

Captain F T Spicer, commanding officer of B Company, 4th Battalion, Bedfordshire Regiment told me on the blower today that he is recommending Second Lieutenant A V Clark “for his good work and gallantry during the enemy attack on the 30/31st December 1917. He was in charge of four posts when the enemy attacked and drove in his advance post, he at once collected this section and retook this post; again he was driven back; he again collected another section and retook this post a second time, where he remained until he was badly wounded"(1).
