  1. Solomon was my great great uncle. He was buried in the village cemetery at Quaregnon ( near Mons) until 1953 whence he was re-interred at Cement House Cemetery,Langemark.
Given these facts, I assumed that he was badly wounded on 24 Aug and left behind during the retreat and died of wounds 3 weeks later. Do you have any info to place him at Missy-Sur-Aisne ??

    1. Mike, the roll of honour is put together from a synergy of Soldiers Died in the Great War and Commonwealth War Graves. Solomon is listed as killed in action and as serving with the 1st Battalion. That battalion's war diary shows that on 13th September they were at Missy. We do not research each soldier and, I suppose, there is always room for error in official designation - killed in action, died of wounds etc.

  2. Understood. If you can use my feedback/research to update the Roll Of Honour then that would be much appreciated.
    Best Regards

  3. Having visited his grave I can tell you he is buried alongside Walter Bennett and James Newman of 1st Beds, both of whom were KIA on 24-Aug.
    Thanks
