Friday 8th June 1917
It seems that
my report of yesterday was a little exaggerated, but only a little. II ANZAC
Corps did not take all its objectives, ending up short of the third objective
of Oosatverne Line. Nevertheless the other two corps did reach this objective.
Casualties, it turns out, have been heavy, though medical staff I have spoken
to stated that they expected them to be heavier, perhaps twice as heavy as they
were.
Around dawn
this morning the Australians of II ANZAC Corps again tried to reach the
Oostaverne Line and again failed due to stiff resistance.
