August 1917
The adjutant
of 7th Battalion, Bedfordshire Regiment, tells me that warning orders having
been received for the Battalion prepared for a move up to the line during the
day, relieving 12th Battalion, Middlesex Regiment, which had previously
relieved 2nd Battalion, Bedfordshire Regiment. The 7th Bedfords are to carry
out an intended attack during the next forty eight hours. 2nd Bedfords were
originally warned to expect to carry out an attack but, having heard nothing
from that source, it seems as if 7th Battalion will be carrying it out instead.
