Fifth Day of the Third Battle of Ypres

Saturday 4th August 1917

Today the battlefield here at Ypres briefly sprang back into life. The enemy made an unexpected attack on 41st Division’s positions at the hamlet of Hollebeke and a strongpoint called Forret Farm. However, I am pleased to report that the defenders, after being ejected, rallied and drove the foe back to his lines again.
