1st Bedfords behind the Lines

Tuesday 11th May 1915: After their suffering at Hill 60 the 1st Battalion has not been idle. They may be needed at any time to help counter a German breakthrough or to go, once more, into the line to replace another exhausted Battalion. So, instead of the complete rest they probably need they have been training in how best to throw various kinds of hand grenades, including those favoured by the enemy. The machine gun sections have also been brought back up to full strength as this weapon is the trump card in any defence of a position against attack.
