The adjutant
of the 4th Battalion, Bedfordshire Regiment, currently training at
Beaulencourt, south-east of Bapaume, remarked to your correspondent today about
the “additions and subtractions” as he called them. During the month of January
the battalion has lost sixteen men killed in action and two died of wounds. Two officers and 26 men have been gassed and 39 have been wounded. Reinforcements during
the month have exceeded losses at 111 other ranks.
