Monday 14th February 1916: The adjutant of the 2nd Battalion at
Maricourt tells us that they are all on high alert. At midnight a message was
received from headquarters that a German captured by the French yesterday in
their attack on Frise warned that the German 12th Division is going to attack
the British front line this morning protected by a cloud of poison gas. We
await developments in a state of some tension.
