The camp at Mudros
Tuesday 10th
August: the adjutant of the 1st/5th Bedfords tells us that they have arrived at
Mudros on the Greek island of Lemnos. It thus seems certain that they will be
joining the Allied campaign at Gallipoli which has been under way since April
with no sign of a breakthrough. Their division, 54th, along with others, will
be much needed reinforcements and it is hoped that these men will tip the
balance in the Allies’ favour.
