Day One Hundred and Thirty on the Somme

Tuesday 7th November 1916 From our Correspondent in the Field

Heavy rain has been falling all day today, making any attacks impossible. No doubt then men of 50th (Northumbrian) Division, still charged with taking Gird Trench and the Butte de Warlencourt are content that it is so.

The adjutant of the 2nd Bedfords tells me that 30th Division made a successful raid on the Germans last night. Around thirty of the enemy are reckoned to have been killed. The Bedfords took no part.
