Enemy Attack

Friday 8th March 1918

6th Battalion, Bedfordshire Regiment are in support in the Menin Road Sector east of Ypres. Today they have endured a heavy artillery barrage by the enemy and about ninety minutes ago the Germans attacked 111th Brigade in the front line and gained a lodgement in the line. This is a potentially serious situation and the Battalion, part of 112th Brigade, is on alert to go forward and assist the defence if necessary.

7th Battalion, at Rouez Camp are continuing to find working parties. Captain W J W Colley has returned from leave and is second-in-command. There is a rifle range at the camp and men are being encouraged to use it to practise.
