Prisoner Taken


Sunday 3rd March 1918

4th Battalion, Bedfordshire Regiment is in the front line near Ribecourt, south-west of Cambrai. The adjutant informs us that Second Lieutenant Hinchliffe has been wounded today. He also mentioned that in a patrol last night Second Lieutenant D H Macklin(1) captured a prisoner, who has now been sent back to headquarters for interrogation.

(1) 20 year-old David Harold Macklin, from White Wood Corner, Sandy, would be killed on 27th March in the Battalion’s counter-attack at Bouzincourt Ridge north-west of Albert and is buried at Ovillers Military Cemetery
