Friday 20th July 1917
The raiders
of 1st/5th Battalion continued their practice yesterday, especially with six
new rifle sections which have been added as an addition to the reserve. A gap
of about thirty yards width was cut in front trench of Umbrella Hill by our artillery
during the afternoon.
During the
morning the Regimental Sergeant Major and party had been at work on the dump of
stores at the place of assembly for the raid. This was shelled for a time and
one sergeant was wounded.
