Planning the Umbrella Hill Raid

Tuesday 17th July 1917

Members of the 1st/5th Battalion raiding party practised some more yesterday. In consequence of fresh aeroplane photographs the replica, on which practice had been going on, was altered and modifications in personnel were made. Some shelling took place on the beach where bathing was in progress. Three small shrapnel shells fell and one man was slightly wounded.
