Sunday 31st
October 1915: the adjutant of the 6th Bedfords tells us that 600 men of the
battalion, about two thirds its strength, is engaged on digging trenches for
cables behind the lines near the village of Souastre. This the fourth day this
week that fatigue parties have been employed in digging whilst out of the front
line supposedly resting.
