Monday 20th March 1916: The 6th Battalion have been given a
complete rest for the next three days at the village of Humbercamps. They have
had a tour of seven months in the trenches and the men are enjoying bathing and
generally cleaning up.
Since they
first went into the trenches last year the Battalion has lost fourteen
comrades. This is a remarkably low number, especially compared to the 8th Battalion
mentioned yesterday, but every death is a cause of someone’s grief.
