Happier Christmas

Thursday 30th December 1915: the 8th Battalion, Bedfordshire Regiment spent its Christmas in the trenches but Captain D M Hawkins wishes to pass on the Battalion’s thanks to Mrs J S Liddell, wife of the Commanding Officer who runs the Comforts Fund for the Battalion. “There were sufficient sent out for each man to receive a present, and they were greatly appreciated, not only for their intrinsic value but also as a tangible reminder that the men of this Battalion are not forgotten by those at home”.
