Today 33rd
Division again attacked one of the woods which have so sorely tried the army in
this Battle of the Somme – High Wood. They succeeded in occupying a trench on
the western edge of the wood which will, hopefully, be the jumping-off point
for a successful attack on the wood itself at some later date.
